Another Bravo star is apologizing for their old tweets. Real Housewives of Potomac star Candiace Dillard addressed her past homophobic and transphobic words in a lengthy statement on Wednesday, August 12.
“I want to address tweets that resurfaced from nearly 10 years ago that may have offended people I love dearly and those who have supported me as a Potomac Housewife,” the 33-year-old reality star began on Wednesday via Twitter. “To my loyal fanbase, particularly the LGBTQIA+ viewers, thank you for unwavering support. I love you. I, alone, am responsible for my words and I deeply regret saying anything that could have hurt my friends, colleagues, family and fans.”
Dillard went on to point out that she was a “private citizen” at the time, “speaking carelessly and crassly” as many “often” do.
“And for my lack of better judgment, I am sorry,” she continued. “While I have always considered myself an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, I recognize my words were insensitive and undermined the support, reverence and love I have consistently tried to demonstrate through advocacy for LGBTQIA+ rights and causes, as well as my personal relationships with those who identify as LGBTQIA+.”
Dillard concluded that she is still “evolving,” noting that the language she used wasn’t acceptable then or now.

“This has been a humbling experience, but I remain committed to learning and listening to become a more effective and emphatic ally,” she wrote. “My prayer is that this may serve as a teachable moment for those who are willing to listen and learn as it has been for me.”
While Dillard’s tweets have seemingly been deleted, screenshots are circulating online.
“Queenie gay men irk me,” one tweet from 2010 reads.
In a second post, the Bravo personality wrote that she’s “turned off” by men who are ”too into fashion.” She tweeted, “When u do too much, I’m disgusted. Makes me think ‘gay.’”
A third tweet from 2010 suggests that former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks’ then-husband, Apollo Nida, is “a little gay” because he’s “so awkward.”
In 2011, Dillard reposted a transphobic post that reads, “If you wanna be or are gay then do you. But wtf is up wit dudes wanting to be women?” She added, “agreed” at the time.
Earlier this year, Bravo cut ties with Vanderpump Rules stars Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni as well as Below Deck Mediterranean’s Peter Hunziker for past racially insensitive remarks.
